So, if you have a passion for plants and enjoy the technical aspects of planning gardens or landscaping for a home, then taking a landscape design course could be right for you. Some people take garden design courses for the purposes of improving their home. Others hope to work in the industry in some professional capacity. Either way, here are a few free software programs and a few paid programs you might consider:

Garden Planner - Design and print your own garden plan.

Virtual Garden Designer - This is a totally free piece of software that you can either download or use on their site. It requires Adobe Shockwave to run it.

In addition to computer software programs, there are landscape related classes at local vocational schools, community colleges and other institutional facilities.  You can even learn at home on your computer. This is called distance learning and there are a wide variety of institutions who offer this. Most, if not all, course work is done via computer. You can study course material, interact with other students and the instructors, and even take tests and quizzes online. This is the ideal solution for the home gardener who wants to improve their skills as a hobbyist gardener and landscaper. The more extensive programs may even prepare you for a job in the industry.

One of the free software programs or a distance learning course might be ideal for your needs and your budget.

Anybody know a good pool guy? I live in Scottsdale and can not stand my guy anymore. He kind of came with the house. Any recommendations for Arizona? I know there are a ton, but want a referral

I think these programs are pretty cool. You can pretty much make the setting for however you you want your place to look. They are easy to use too. I highly recommend using one if you re doing your yard
